Photo Challenge: Thursday’s Windows – Week 17

January 11, 2013 · by Learning2Hear

My photo for this week’s Thursday’s Windows challenge is the window of a balcony door that opens to an inviting setting with a table and chairs, bright pretty flowers blooming, and a view that varies from quiet evenings to the bustling daytime activities of an annual art fair.

A link at the end of this post will take you to the final week that this challenge will be hosted on Sandra’s blog “By The Book“, and also a link where the challenge will be continued by a fellow blogger.

Photo Challenge: Thursday’s Windows – Week 15

December 29, 2012 · by Learning2Hear

My photo for this week’s Thursday’s Windows challenge is a lighted Cross displayed on a medical building for Christmas.

A link at the end of this post will take you to the challenge, hosted on Sandra’s blog “By The Book“.

The lights are so bright that the Cross can be seen from miles away at night. I hope they leave it lit up all year.

Travel Theme: Transportation

December 15, 2012 · by Learning2Hear

This week’s Travel Theme photo challenge from Ailsa at Where’s My Backpack? is Transportation.

If you want to get from one side of a lake to the other, or just be transported to your favorite fishing spot, this boat will get you there. As long as you don’t mind rowing.

Boat

A foggy morning on the bay meant very few passengers for the Southern Belle’s early tour around the bay.

Foggy Southern Belle

One friendly and persistent bird from a flock that joins the Belle’s tours. The canopy gives them a bird’s-eye view to watch for popcorn thrown into the water by the passengers.

Bird on Boat Canopy

Just in from a ride around the farm, this horse was ready for a snack after his saddle was taken off.
I don’t think he liked the flash of my camera.

Horse in stall

In Amish communities a horse and buggy is the most common method of transportation, and the horses usually wear blinders to prevent distractions. The dark brown horse may not have been used to blinders yet, he was trying to see around them when people walked by.

Amish Horse-Buggy

The people who own this car were on a road trip, and had already traveled over 800 miles when this photo was taken. No air conditioning, and the heater didn’t work.

Antique Car at Museum

A more common sight on road trips is the SUV, a popular mode of transportation with its modern conveniences for comfortable travel.

Stone Overpass

See Ailsa’s and other Travel Theme photos here, and consider adding your own Transportation photos to the theme.

Photo Challenge: Thursday’s Windows – Week 13

December 14, 2012 · by Learning2Hear

My choice for this week’s Thursday’s Windows challenge is photos of two windows in a tent set up at a Christmas event.

A link at the end of this post will take you to the challenge, hosted on Sandra’s blog “By The Book“.

The windows aren’t impressive by themselves, but the view created by the Christmas tree and lights transformed them into a colorful, brightly lit element of the Winter Wonderland theme.

It’s interesting to see how far tents have come; not only the window style, but also now with heaters and air conditioning units.

Photo Challenge: Thursday’s Windows – Week 11

December 1, 2012 · by Learning2Hear

My photo for this week’s Thursday’s Windows challenge is a couple of shots of my kitten when we first adopted him.

Here he’s peeking in through the blinds on one of the windows of the door, wanting to come in.

Kitten in the Window

Now he’s trying to open the door and let himself in. He’s looking up at the door handle and hitting it with his paw. He’s an outside cat, but he likes to come in and play with the dog. He’s grown from a cute kitten to a beautiful cat since these photos. And he’s a great mouser, he earns his keep!

Travel Theme: Liquid

November 28, 2012 · by Learning2Hear

I’ve changed my WordPress theme, and I’m still learning my way around the features to get everything set up. If you get lost here, clicking on my title (Hearing His Voice) at the top of any page will take you back to my main (home) page. Thank you for your patience as I work out the new design options.

This week’s Travel Theme photo challenge from Ailsa at Where’s My Backpack? is Liquid.

The water shooting up in this fountain looked like it was dancing.

I think the ripples and reflections of water in the wake behind a boat are relaxing to watch.

The Goldfish were constantly moving in circles just under the surface of the water. The sun shining on them creates an effect resembling neon, or even little flames shooting under water.

The sun was just beginning to peek out from behind a heavy morning fog that distorted my photo, but it surprised me with a rainbow effect in the fountain.

See Ailsa’s and other Travel Theme photos here, and consider adding your own Liquid photos to the theme.

Photo Challenge: Thursday’s Windows – Week 10

November 24, 2012 · by Learning2Hear

My photo for this week’s Thursday’s Windows challenge is a house with an unusual design in the third story windows. In the summer this view is completely hidden by the trees. It looks like a house with a story to me.

A link at the end of this post will take you to the challenge, hosted on Sandra’s blog “By The Book“.
