Who Are You Following?

April 19, 2018 · by Learning2Hear

Tunnel view-L2H

There are but two essential requirements:

First: Has any one cheated death and proved it?

Second: Is it available to me?

Here is the complete record:

Confucius’ tomb – occupied;

Buddha’s tomb – occupied;

Mohammed’s tomb – occupied;

Jesus’ tomb – empty.

Argue as you will. There is no point in following a loser. – G. B. Hardy

The answer to both questions is Yes!

Choose Jesus.

Look Ahead with Promise, Hope, and Joy

April 18, 2018 · by Learning2Hear

God's Word Stands
Down through the centuries, in times of trouble and trial, God has brought courage to the hearts of those who love Him. The Bible is filled with assurances of God’s help and comfort in every kind of trouble which might cause fears to arise in the human heart. You can look ahead with promise, hope, and joy. – Billy Graham

Museum Quote

April 16, 2018 · by Learning2Hear

Thank You Cross-L2H
In any museum we will find quite ordinary things – clothes, a walking stick, a pen, pieces of furniture – which are only of value because they were possessed and used by some great person. It is the ownership which gives them worth. It is so with the Christian. The Christian may be a very ordinary person, but he acquires a new value and dignity and greatness because he belongs to God. The greatness of the Christian lies in the fact that he is God’s. – William Barclay

The Light Of The Gospel

A Step of Faith

April 14, 2014 · by Learning2Hear

When you come to the end of all the light you know, and it’s time to step into the darkness of the unknown, faith is knowing that one of two things will happen:

Either you will be given something solid to stand on, or you will be taught to fly. Edward Teller

Jesus Heals

December 10, 2013 · by Learning2Hear

Jesus Heals All-L2H
“Is not God as willing to show the mercy of healing to His worshippers as He is to show the mercy of forgiveness to His enemies?” (Romans 8:32) – F.F. Bosworth in “Christ The Healer“

He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? Romans 8:32 NKJ

The Amplified Bible is often helpful for explaining the meaning of words in a passage (amplifying them):

“He who did not withhold or spare [even] His own Son but gave Him up for us all, will He not also with Him freely and graciously give us all [other] things?” Romans 8:32 AMP

He sends forth His word and heals them and rescues them from the pit and destruction.
Psalm 107:20 AMP

Bless (affectionately, gratefully praise) the Lord, O my soul; and all that is [deepest] within me, bless His holy name!

Bless (affectionately, gratefully praise) the Lord, O my soul, and forget not [one of] all His benefits—

Who forgives [every one of] all your iniquities, Who heals [each one of] all your diseases,

Who redeems your life from the pit and corruption, Who beautifies, dignifies, and crowns you with loving-kindness and tender mercy;

Who satisfies your mouth [your necessity and desire at your personal age and situation] with good so that your youth, renewed, is like the eagle’s [strong, overcoming, soaring]! Psalm 103:1-5 AMP

There are many, many more Scriptures about healing, as well as many examples of healing in the Bible. There are also many books written about healing, but not all of them line up with Scripture. In my study on healing I’ve ran across several books that completely disregard what the Bible says about it. I’m currently reading “Christ The Healer” by F.F. Bosworth, as I’ve quoted above. I’m not finished with it yet, but my opinion about it so far is good. The book is mostly a compilation of Bosworth’s sermons, with some incredible and encouraging testimonials from people who were healed of various ailments and diseases, several which were life-threatening.

Have you read any good books on healing that are based on Scripture? If so, please share them in the comments.

Asking The Right Question

November 8, 2013 · by Learning2Hear

image

The message on this church sign caught our attention when driving through Alabama, so we turned around to see if the – – – part was filled in on the other side. It wasn’t.

We thought the – – – was “and the truth…”, as in:

“And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” John 8:32 (NKJV)

And it will.

However, if the blanks represented letters, then it would be a three-letter word, as in:

“God will set you free”

And He will.

Maybe the message was a reference to an upcoming sermon that would explain or fill in the blanks.

Or maybe the message was just meant to cause passers-by to ponder how we would fill in the blanks.

“Wisdom is, and starts with, the humility to accept the fact that you don’t have all the right answers,
and the courage to learn to ask the right questions.” – Unknown

How would you fill in the blanks?

garden praying

Sweating drops of blood, in anguish I prayed,

asleep

While friends sleep in the cool of the night’s shade,

 betrayed

A crowd, a commotion; with a kiss I am betrayed,

crown

Scorn and ridicule; with a crown of thorns and a royal robe I am arrayed,

 stripes

With the shards of a crude whip my body is beaten and flayed,

crucify

“CRUCIFY HIM” came the verdict of the angry brigade,

jesus on cross

Hands and feet nailed to a cross, as a trophy I was displayed,

jesus tomb

“It is finished!” In a dark tomb my body was laid,

 risen jesus

Hell and death defeated; for you the price of sin I paid!

“God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)

The Secret Silent Invisible Forces

February 19, 2013 · by Learning2Hear

Character is not built by battling and excitement alone. The harvest is not ripened by the thunderous forces of nature, but by the secret silent invisible forces.

Daffodil Bud

So the best qualities of our spiritual lives are matured by quietness, silence and commonplace. A. P. Gouthey

Blooming Daffodil

The sight of the bright yellow of these pretty daffodils against the drab brown of our hillside was a welcome sign that Spring is near. Even though they were buried under leaves and weeds, the “secret silent invisible forces” not only allowed them to survive the cold and harsh conditions, but also to quietly push through and rise above it all. Just after the first few flowers bloomed there were several days of hard rain and gusty winds, causing the blooms to droop almost to the ground. But as soon as the sun came out they not only perked back up, but even more daffodils began to grow and bloom.

3 Daffodils

Have you struggled under the weight of problems, battled harsh circumstances, or been battered by the storms of life?

I have. I do. And I could not survive without knowing that the Lord is my strength and my shield, and that I can always trust Him.

The Lord is my strength and my shield; My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart greatly rejoices, And with my song I will praise Him. Psalm 28:7

God created the flowers to withstand harsh conditions, and even to keep blooming in the storms. How much more willing He is to help us not only survive our life storms, but also to grow spiritually because of them, or in spite of them.

As He says in Isaiah 41:10 “Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”

If you are also battling some illness or circumstance in your life, or being battered by a storm sweeping through your life, I pray you will find comfort and strength in God and His promises, and declare with confidence,

“my help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.” Psalm 121:2

A New Year, A Fresh Page

December 31, 2012 · by Learning2Hear

Today is a new day. In a few days hours it will be a new year. Each moment is a new moment to start over and begin again. God wants to walk with you. He wants to love you and help you make adjustments. He wants you to realize your potential. You don’t have to be famous, you don’t have to be rich, you don’t have to pay and you don’t have to be something you aren’t.

All you have to do is believe God is whom he says he is and will do what he promises to do. All you have to do is let him love you and commit to a personal relationship with him. You have to want to let him love you and want to love him back. He will only do what you are willing to let him do. Melinda Clements

Bright Star

Every man should be born again on the first day of January. Start with a fresh page. Take up one hole more in the buckle if necessary, or let down one, according to circumstances; but on the first of January let every man gird himself once more, with his face to the front, and take no interest in the things that were and are past. Henry Ward Beecher

Good habits are not made on birthdays, nor Christian character at the New Year. The workshop of character is everyday life. The uneventful and commonplace hour is where the battle is lost or won. Mattie D. Babcock
